Argentina and Chile work for greater energy integration

March 01, 2019, the Secretary of the Government of Energy, Gustavo Lopetegui, met with the Minister of Energy of Chile, Susana Jiménez Schuster, with the aim of deepening energy integration. In 2018 Argentina returned to export gas to Chile, after 10 years, reaching 5Mm3 / day in December and January. During the meeting, the authorities discussed the necessary frameworks for these exports to be sustainable and to increase as of October.

At the end of 2017, Argentina and Chile signed an agreement to promote complementary and emergency energy exchanges and in 2018 another was signed that opened bilateral trade. Lopetegui and Jiménez Schuster agreed to resume the bilateral technical roundtables from April.
